| ■夏洛蒂．勃朗逖／Charlotte Brontë（1816年4月21日—1855年3月31日） 十九世紀著名英國作家、詩人，文壇巨擘，夏洛蒂勃朗逖為勃朗逖三姊妹之首，出生於英國東北部約克郡小鎮索頓 （Thornton），其父派崔克．勃朗逖為愛爾蘭人，一八○六年將勃蘭第改姓為勃朗逖，其母瑪麗亞．布倫威爾（Maria Branwell, 1783年—1821年）在她五歲時因病過世，夏洛蒂便在姨媽伊莉莎白．布倫威爾（Elizabeth Branwel, 1776年—1842年）的照顧下長大。因為生活窮困，夏洛蒂曾與其他姊妹一起被送往教規頗為嚴格的寄宿學校就學。夏洛蒂曾擔任教師及家庭教師。 勃朗逖以文壇處女作作品《簡愛》聞名於世，筆下其他著作尚有：《雪莉》（Shirley, 1849）、《維萊特》（Villette, 1853）、《教師》（The Professor, 1857）等作品。勃朗逖一家文傑輩出，胞妹愛蜜麗（Emily Brote, 1818-1848） 為名著《咆哮山莊》（Wuthering Heights, 1847）作者，么妹安（Anne Brote, 1820-1849）則以作品《阿格涅斯．葛萊》（Agnes Grey, 1847）享譽文壇，參人作品皆為文學經典；夏洛蒂後因墜馬死於懷孕併發症，得年卅九。 |
